Adrenal Myelolipoma: A Case Report with Literature Review

چکیده
A 63-year-old man was admitted to the ward of Internal Medicine Department due to an incidentally found right retroperitoneal tumor under abdominal sonography without any specific discomforts. After further laboratory biochemical investigation and abdominal computed tomography, a right suprarenal mass with fat component density and 7.1×6.6 cm in size was detected. So he was transferred to Urology Department for tumor excision under the impression of right adrenal tumor. A final diagnosis of adrenal myelolipoma was confirmed by histopathological studies. This unusual case is reported with a review of the literature. (J Urol R.O.C., 11:185-9, 2000)

Seventeen Alpha-Hydroxylase Deficiency Associated with Absent Gonads and Myelolipoma: A Case Report and Review of Literature
Congenital adrenal hyperplasia comprises a group of disorders resulting from defects in enzymes required for the synthesis of cortisol. The clinical presentation depends on the specific enzyme defect. We report a rare case of congenital adrenal hyperplasia due to 17 alpha-hydroxylase deficiency. A 26-year-old female patient referred with hypertension and hypokalemia. She also had primary amenor...
متن کاملAdrenal Myelolipoma: A Case Report
Adrenal myelolipoma is a rare benign tumor that is composed of hematopoietic cells and mature fat. Mostly, these nonfunctioning tumors are distinguished incidentally during autopsy or radiologic investigations. Here, we report a case of 46-year-old man presented with nonspecific abdominal pain for one year, who had right adrenal mass with fat density detected by radiologic investigation. Histop...
متن کاملBilateral Adrenal Myelolipoma Associated with Thalassemia:A Case Report and Literature Review
Myelolipomas are rare benign tumors composed of mature fat and bone marrow elements, typically found in the adrenal gland, but have been reported in extra-adrenal locations. Adrenal myelolipoma seldom produces symptoms unless it attains considerable size or hemorrhage into itself. The origin of adrenal myelolipoma remains obscure, various theories have been proposed. Here, we present a case of ...
متن کاملBilateral Giant Adrenal Myelolipomas: a case report and literature review
Adrenal myelolipoma is a rare benign adrenal neoplasm presenting in 0.08%-0.4% of population based on autopsy series. It is of adrenal origin composed of mature adipose tissue and a variable amount of hematopoietic elements (myeloid and erythroid cells). Most patients are asymptomatic, and the lesion is discovered incidentally at autopsy or on imaging studies performed for other reasons. Most t...
متن کاملRenal myelolipoma: a rare extra-adrenal tumor in a rare site: a case report and review of the literature
INTRODUCTION Myelolipomas are uncommon, benign tumors composed of mature adipose tissue and hematopoietic elements. They mostly occur in the adrenal glands, but extra-adrenal myelolipomas have also been reported in other locations such as the presacral region, retroperitoneum, pelvis and mediastinum. Here, we present a case of an extra-adrenal myelolipoma in a rare site: the renal parenchyma. T...
متن کاملSimultaneous adrenal and extra-adrenal myelolipoma – an uncommon incident: case report and review of the literature
BACKGROUND Extra-adrenal myelolipomas are rare benign tumours. Other soft tissue tumours such as well-differentiated liposarcomas appear morphological almost identical. Preoperative imaging and especially biopsy are important tools to diagnose these lesions. CASE PRESENTATION We report a very seldom case of a simultaneous myelolipoma of the adrenal gland in association with an extra-adrenal m...
